Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have postponed all September performances scheduled, starting with Thursday’s show at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York.
A post X, formerly known as Twitter, said on Wednesday that the frontman was being treated for symptoms of stomach ulcer disease and that the postponement followed “the decision of his medical advisors.”
In a statement to fans, the boss wrote that he and the band are “heartbroken to have to postpone these shows.” He continued: “First I want to apologize to our amazing Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick up these shows and more. Thank you for your understanding and support.”

He ended his message on a hopeful note: “We had a lot of fun at our shows in the US and look forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon.”
Springsteen and the E Street Band were also scheduled to visit several cities across North America this month, including Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Vancouver and Toronto. There is no word on whether their performances in December in Inglewood and San Francisco were mentioned.
This tour was announced back in February and followed the E Street Band’s six-year touring hiatus, the longest since its formation in 1999.

Shortly after the tour began, Covid quickly hit E Street, as band members Steven Van Zandt and violinist/vocalist Soozie Tyrell missed their performances in Texas after testing positive; Saxophonist Jake Clemons and half of E Street’s touring backup singers also missed later dates.
In March, additional shows were postponed “due to illness,” but the band did not disclose which members were ill. At the time, Van Zandt reassured fans on social media that there was “no reason to be worried or afraid.” Nothing serious. Just a temporary situation. We will all be back at full strength very soon.” Asked if the shows have been postponed or canceled, the guitarist added: “Postponed. We’re not canceling.”
