Burglary and sexual assault: Quebec police search for victims of suspect

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for breaking into homes and committing sexual acts on young women in Quebec City. The authorities are now looking for potential victims.

Yannis-Kemi Ahouansou was arrested on March 11 after an emergency call reported that a man had broken into a house in the Sainte-Foy sector. The man was also arrested for sexual assault.

Investigations revealed that the suspect broke into homes with unlocked doors in order to “commit acts of a sexual nature against young women”.

The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) is therefore asking for the public’s help in identifying additional potential victims. Authorities have reason to believe he may have attacked multiple people.

“During these offenses, the suspect allegedly used a blue 2013 Ford Fusion vehicle for his travels,” SPVQ spokesman David Poitras said in a press release.

Other possible fees

Yannis-Kemi Ahouansou made his first appearance at the Quebec courthouse on March 11. He faces one count of burglary and trespassing and another count of sexual assault.

He was back in court on Friday but no new charges were brought against him.

The prosecutor on the case, Me Anne-Frédérique Coulombe, explains that she has postponed the case to March 31 because certain elements of the prosecutor’s investigation have still not been disclosed.

However, new charges could be brought against Ahouansou at his next appearance.
