"Call Marvel": Gwyneth Paltrow wants them to stop yelling at her for not playing Pepper Potts from Iron Man

(CNN) – Gwyneth Paltrow made a request to Marvel fans around the world.

The Goop founder responded to questions from her followers in Instagram Stories this Wednesday, including one in which she had to answer “the question” about why she stopped appearing in Marvel films.

“Oh my God. Stop yelling at me,” Paltrow playfully said in her video response, continuing, “We just stopped because Iron Man died.”

She continued: “Why do you need Pepper Potts without Iron Man? I don’t know…” and then suggested to fans: “Call Marvel and yell at them, not me! I am sitting here.”

The Oscar winner hadn’t appeared as Potts in a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film since Avengers: Endgame, the film in which Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), aka Tony Stark, virtually died.

Paltrow first appeared in 2008’s “Iron Man” as Potts, Stark’s personal assistant and eventual romantic partner, and played the character for more than a decade in the two “Iron Man” sequels and three of the “Avengers” films.

He also appeared as Potts in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, but humorously admitted to Iron Man director Jon Faverau and celebrity chef Roy Choi that he didn’t even remember playing Tom to have participated in the film. Holland in 2019 episode of the Netflix show “The Chef Show.”

Despite her hazy memory and Stark’s disappearance, Paltrow hinted that she was open to the idea of returning to the MCU while speaking to Scarlett Johansson (aka Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff) on the Goop Podcast earlier this year.

“I mean, I didn’t die, so I guess they can always ask me (to come back),” he said.
