The Reds fired Bob Bradley in late June. Since then, Terry Dunfield has acted as interim coach.
According to the same source, Mark Warburton (Queens Park Rangers), Carl Robinson (DC United) and Bobby Smyrniotis (Forge FC) would also be among the contenders on Ontario’s training list.
As a reminder, Herdman led Canada to their first World Cup qualification since 1986 last year, but his players lost twice in the three group stage games during the tournament in Qatar.
The Toronto team sits 14th in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference with a meager 19 points. Toronto FC are unbeaten in 10 games and were defeated 3-2 by CF Montreal on Sunday night.
