Car hanging over a cape: rescue of a driver stuck in Montcalm

Emergency services intervened on Thursday to save a motorist from an unfortunate situation in Quebec.

Possibly due to an incorrect maneuver, the 71-year-old driver drove forward instead of backwards.

His car then became stuck over the cliff overlooking the coast of Pente-Douce in the Montcalm district.

The accident occurred near 700 Murray Avenue around 4:20 p.m.

The GRIMP fire brigade unit, which specializes in vertical rescue, was needed on site. Firefighters evacuated the victim using a stretcher attached to a rope system. The septuagenarian remained conscious throughout the procedure. The rescuers first stabilized the vehicle before they could remove the woman. His vehicle was then towed away.

The victim only suffered minor injuries.

The Pente-Douce coast was closed for a few hours to free the car and its passenger, the only one on board.
