Suffering from a rare neurological pathology for which she is “continuing treatment,” they say, the Quebec star had announced back in December that she was canceling or postponing concerts planned in Europe between February and July 2023.
“I’m trying very hard to regain my strength, but going on tour can be very difficult (…) It’s better that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to go back on stage,” said the 55 year old. old singer, quoted in the press release.
Celine Dion’s last concert took place in March 2020 in Newark (USA). After fifty concerts in North America, his Courage World Tour was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This tour could never be resumed because the singer then stated that he was suffering from muscle cramps.
The next scheduled concert was on September 1st in Paris (La Défense Arena).
Celine Dion suffers from Stiff Person Syndrome (SPR), a condition whose exact cause is unknown but is likely of autoimmune origin.
This syndrome affects about one in a million people and causes severe pain and difficulty moving, preventing them from engaging in vigorous physical activity.
“The medical team accompanying Céline is following the evolution of the disease and its treatment,” said those close to her.
“Tickets purchased for the 42 canceled dates will be refunded,” the tour operators added.
The singer said it was “not fair to keep postponing the shows” as she didn’t know when she would be able to get back on stage.
She is one of the most popular artists in the world, famous among other things for “My Heart Will Go On”, a song from 1997 for the soundtrack of the movie “Titanic”.
