At around 6:30 p.m., he was found unconscious with injuries to the upper body by Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) officers who were called to the scene and taken to a hospital, where he is in critical condition.

According to the first available information, the young man was riding a skateboard from east to west on Sainte-Catherine street when he was hit by a vehicle coming from the north at the intersection of Avenue From Lorimier.

The driver of the vehicle, whose description is still unknown, would have left the scene of the accident after the impact, the SPVM states.

His agents established a security perimeter by blocking Avenida de Lorimier between René-Lévesque and Maisonneuve boulevards, and Saint-Catherine Street between Cartier and Parthenais streets. Specialized collision investigators must go to the crime scene to try to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.

At this point, Avenue De Lorimier is quite wide, with three lanes of traffic in each direction. There is also a traffic light.

As of Sunday evening, the young victim’s skateboard was still splintered at the scene.

Please note that the skateboard park on the corner of Boulevard Maisonneuve and Avenue De Lorimier is currently under construction and covered with snow.
