– Champions League theses: Premier League and La Liga dominate last eight games

This means three Premier League teams have avoided each other in their last eight matches, as have three La Liga teams.

There is a possibility that teams from the same national division will compete in the semi-final draw, where the winner of the Chelsea/Real Madrid match will play Manchester City or Atlético Madrid. Meanwhile, Benfica or Liverpool will play Villarreal or Bayern.

Matches will be confirmed shortly, but as both Madrid teams drew at home in the second leg of the quarter-finals, one draw is expected to be cancelled. As Atlético Madrid have qualified as Spanish champions, their draw will remain intact while Real Madrid’s game against Chelsea is to be canceled and the second leg played at Stamford Bridge. This also happened in 2019 when both Manchester City and United drew at home, with United trading places.

The first quarter-final matches will take place on April 5 and 6, the return legs on April 12 and 13.

The first semi-final legs will take place on April 26 and 27, and the return legs on May 3 and 4.
