In an interview with the pan-Arab network Al Mayadeen, the head of the Asian State Mission explained that the construction of the National Higher Institute of Music in Dbayeh, north of this capital, is the first integrated project financed by his government in this country within the framework of Belt and Road.

In his opinion, such an initiative is of great importance among the more than three thousand projects that China has established in neighboring countries and will be a symbol of friendship between the two countries.

According to the diplomat, the institute will not only help improve the level of music and arts education in Lebanon, but also provide new opportunities for cultural exchange.

Minjian said Beijing will work to strengthen convergence between the Belt and Road Initiative and the development plan in Lebanon, and will also take concrete measures to share opportunities and growth results.

On this occasion, the Chinese representative commented on the third Belt and Road Forum on International Cooperation scheduled for October in Beijing.

Through the meeting, China wants to confirm a global infrastructure development strategy and open new doors for high-level cooperation, according to the official.

For the ambassador, the Asian giant and the countries of the Middle East are natural partners in building the Silk Road, as they support each other in the political sphere and their economic structures and prosperity are largely complementary.

At the same time, unlike some Western countries, he expressed his government’s interest in promoting development and industrialization in the Middle East and improving communication and exchanges.

According to Minjian, China is one of the region’s largest trading partners, with trade volume with Middle Eastern countries exceeding $500 billion in 2020, an annual increase of 27 percent.

In this sense, he highlighted increasing cooperation in the areas of cutting-edge technologies such as 5G internet service, artificial intelligence, new energies and space satellites.

On the development of an economic corridor between India, the Middle East and Europe under the auspices of the US, Minjian stressed that his government welcomes fair competition and the emergence of a new economic path reflects the success of the first, the “Belt and Road Initiative” was announced before Decade launched by President Xi Jinping.

China and Lebanon established diplomatic relations on November 9, 1971 and currently maintain close economic and trade cooperation. In addition, the Asian country actively participates in United Nations peacekeeping and demining operations in the southern Levantine region.
