China will work with Africa for a just and orderly multipolar world, says foreign minister

BRASILIA, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) — China is ready to work with Africa to achieve a fair and orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization that benefits all, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks on Friday while briefing the media on his recent trip to four African countries, namely Egypt, Tunisia, Togo and Ivory Coast.

In recent years, the volatile political and security situation in West Africa, particularly in the Sahel, has posed challenges to peace, stability and development in the region.

Wang noted that all countries in the Sahel are good friends of China, and expressed that the Chinese side hopes to restore peace and achieve stability and development in the Sahel as soon as possible.

In their eyes, it is essential to resolve differences politically through dialogue and consultation.

The Global Security Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping calls on countries to pursue a new security path characterized by dialogue rather than confrontation, partnership rather than alliance and mutual benefit rather than zero-sum, Wang stressed.

In his opinion, African countries have the right to choose their own development paths, enjoy equal rights in the international system and receive fair opportunities in global development. End
