Actor Chris Hemsworth, best known as Thor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent years, may retire after discovering he is at high risk of developing Alzheimer’s in a few years. The information comes from a source linked to the actor for the Page Six website, which was published this Sunday (2).
That’s what the star announced, who took a career break in November last year after discovering he had two copies of the ApoE4 gene in his DNA. Such a condition increases the likelihood of developing a degenerative disease with age by 810 times. He declined to retire at the time, but Hollywood sources say it could happen.

“He doesn’t plan on taking on many roles because of[the risk of]Alzheimer’s,” the insider commented. Chris Hemsworth is currently working on four films: The New Avengers, the spinoff of Mad Max: Fury Road (called Furiosa), The Extraction episode (from Netflix) and a film about the life of wrestler Hulk Hogan.
Speaking on the subject in the November Vanity Fair interview, Chris explained his concerns. “When you are concerned with preventing Alzheimer’s, the benefit of taking preventative measures is that they affect the rest of your life. If you have a predisposition to cardiovascular disease, cancer or whatever, it’s all about sleep management, stress management, nutrition, exercise and fitness. It’s always the same tools that have to be applied consistently,” he said at the time.
