Barely a year after Will Smith’s sensational punch on Oscar night 2022 a Los Angeles, Chris Rock breaks the silence and speaks again about what happened. During Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, a new live format airing on Netflix, he reportedly said Smith was practicing “selective outrage” (referring to the live show’s title) and that the fist had more, according to reports from the BBC Dealing with relationship conflicts between him and his wife Jade Pinkett, more than with his wit. “We’ve all been scammed, everyone here has been scammed, although none of us have ever been interviewed by the person who scammed us on TV,” Rock said. “She it hurt him much more than hurting me,” he added. In fact, Pinkett and Smith have never hidden the fact that they’ve had various relationship issues over the years. In July 2020, during an episode of her Red Table Talk, she admitted that she had a relationship with the singer about ten years ago August Alsina. Just as there have always been rumors of alleged adventures between Smith and some colleagues. But the two then decided to become one open couple.
The fist at the Oscars: “It really hurt me”
It was all sparked on Oscars night by a comment from the host about Pinkett’s radical haircut suffering as a result alopecia. And actor Smith didn’t take it well. Rock Today also shows that this blow was not exactly easy: «it hurt me People say ‘words hurt,’ but whoever says that has probably never been slapped in the face.” And he adds that if Will Smith “is a great man,” he’s not. “Smith doesn’t wear a shirt in his films. If you see me in one of my shots having open-heart surgery, I’m still wearing a sweater!” joked the then-Oscar host. But at the same time, he says he took the hit: “I immediately felt like (Manny) Pacquiao,” one of the strongest boxers of all time.
