Thirteen years after co-starring in the film burlesque With Cher, Christina Aguilera paid tribute to this “trailblazer” by recreating some of her most memorable Halloween looks.

“Cher’s message through her music and style has left a lasting impression on the world; To this day I can’t believe I had the opportunity to work with such a legend!” wrote Christina Aguilera to accompany the photo series.
The “Genie in a Bottle” singer swapped her blonde hair for a thick mop of curly black hair that Cher has long sported to emulate some of the diva’s looks. At the top of the list, of course, is the unforgettable leather and resin outfit she wore to film the “If I Could Turn Back Time” music video in the 1980s. To reinforce the connection, sailors were also added to the background.
The clip also caused controversy when it was released; The singer’s revealing outfit, which revealed her buttocks tattooed with a butterfly, forced MTV to broadcast it only at the end of the evening.
“No one could ever take the place of the huge and powerful Cher. The love and respect I have for you is limitless,” Christina Aguilera added in the release, which was intended for her millions of subscribers on Facebook, X/Twitter and Instagram.
