In his traditional Christmas message, Mr. Trudeau urged Canadians to “love your neighbor as yourself.” He asks them to give back to others and help those going through difficult times.
“Let's share the warmth of the holidays with people who are alone this year. This is the true spirit of Christmas and also the true spirit of Canada,” he says.
He added that while Christmas is a religious holiday for Christians around the world, the values of “compassion, kindness and hope” that the birth of Jesus embodies are universal.
The Prime Minister also thanked “the brave members of the Canadian Armed Forces, [les] First responders working day and night to keep us safe [les] Volunteers who dedicate their time to help others experience the joy and light of Christmas.”
According to him, they embody “the eternal message and the timeless truth that giving brings more happiness than receiving.”
Mr. Trudeau also urged Canadians to keep the holiday spirit throughout the new year. “Let us find ways to make our communities, our country and our world a better place in 2024,” he hoped.
