CNN host Kasie Hunt, 37, and her husband Matthew Mario Rivera welcomed their second child — a baby girl — on Wednesday.

CNN political analyst Kasie Hunt went into “sudden 13-minute contractions” in the bathroom of her home before giving birth to a healthy baby girl, the journalist said.

Hunt revealed her second child with husband Matthew Mario Rivera weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces following Wednesday’s unplanned delivery PEOPLE Magazine.

“We were expecting her to arrive Thursday morning via a planned cesarean. She had other plans!” the relieved parents told PEOPLE in a statement.

“We are very pleased to announce the birth of our baby girl, Gray Hunt Rivera. Proud big brother [Mars Hunt, 3½] can’t stop talking about his new little sister.”

Hunt, 37, went on to joke that “Grey is already showing us her independence streak.”

Gray Hunt Rivera was born on Wednesday, the parents told PEOPLE Magazine. The little bundle of joy weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces at birth.

“Grey was born at home early Wednesday morning, after 13 minutes of sudden labor – before there was even time to call the paramedics,” the couple said.

“Dad jumped into action and delivered Baby Gray on the bathroom floor.”

“We are so grateful to the 911 operators and the DC Fire & EMS team,” the couple told PEOPLE.

“Step by step, they took us through the incredibly intense moments right after she was born and as she took her first breaths.”

The couple added, “Thank you to the local firefighters and paramedics who treated mother and baby at home and then got us safely to Sibley Hospital in Washington.”

“This is a day we will never forget!”

“We’re so excited about life as a family of four — and reminded ourselves that it’s going to be so much more unpredictable!” Hunt Riveras told the magazine.

The birth of her second daughter is a happy occasion for Kasie Hunt, who has been surviving some tough times recently.

Hunt gave birth to Gray Hunt Rivera in the bathroom of their Washington, DC home.

In October 2021, she announced that she had undergone a four-hour operation to remove a benign tumor from her brain.

She said the tumor was discovered in August 2021 — around the time she began her new role at CNN.

Hunt was hired by then-CNN boss Jeff Zucker, who planned to feature her as part of the star-studded cast that would lure viewers to the cable channel’s streaming service CNN+.

But Zucker had to call it quits after it was revealed he had a year-long amicable relationship with his chief marketing officer, Allison Gollust.

CNN+ was also launched as parent company Warner Bros. and Discovery completed their multi-billion dollar merger.

With a new management structure, the company went on a cost-cutting spree and shut down CNN+ just weeks after its inception.

Hunt, who frequently appears alongside Jake Tapper on his show The Lead, came to CNN after retiring from Comcast-owned MSNBC, where she served as anchor and correspondent for Capitol Hill.

The 37-year-old Dearborn, Michigan, journalist got her start in journalism as a national political reporter for the Associated Press before being poached by NBC News.

Hunt met her future husband, Rivera, while they were both working in the Washington, DC office of NBC News.

In addition to being a journalist and producer, Rivera is also an adjunct professor at New York University.
