Rimouski resident Fred Dubé is facing five charges after entering Rimouski City Hall wearing a hood last summer. The comedian was absent from his performance Monday morning and was represented by his attorney at the Rimouski courthouse.
The facts of the case against him date back to July 18, 2022. That day, during a municipal council meeting, nearly thirty people entered the room and interrupted the meeting. The group said it wanted to denounce the immobility of elected community officials, particularly in the fight against climate change and the housing crisis.
Two days after the incident, the comedian posted photos on his Facebook account that appear to have been taken at the time of the incident.

Charges were brought against Fred Dubé on November 30. He was reportedly taking part in an unlawful gathering by wearing a mask or disguise to disguise his identity. He is also accused of making a fuss, embarrassing or harassing others and obstructing the work of two peace officers.
However, Fred Dubé’s attorney, Me Alyson Barnabé-Roy, confirmed to the judge that her client intended to plead not guilty.
Fred Dubé will return to the Rimouski courthouse for his trial on February 27.
