Chicago Blackhawks young prodigy Connor Bedard will meet one of his idols on Sunday when the Illinois team takes on the Detroit Red Wings.
So Bedard meets the legend of the Blackhawks, today the Wings, Patrick Kane, who will be a guest in Chicago for the first time since his departure.
“I’m just happy about the video tribute,” Bedard told the NHL website. It had so many highlights here that I probably saw it 100 times. I'm so excited.”
Bedard is particularly thinking about the “Heartbreaker” celebration Kane held after scoring the game-winning goal in the second overtime of Game 5 of the series against the Los Angeles Kings in 2013.
“He’s had some cool celebrations in the past,” Bedard continued. He is a legend and will be remembered forever. (Plus) he always plays at such a high level.”
Kane is having a good time with the Wings, scoring 26 points in 26 games this season. He also has an eight-game streak with at least one point.
Bedard has 39 points in 44 games with the Hawks.
The game also presents the Hawks with an opportunity to remove No. 7 from defenseman Chris Chelios' jersey.
