In the duplex from Egypt we find the journalist Christelle Méral, Sunday November 6, on the occasion of the opening of the COP 27. The journalist gives an update on the leaders who will be present at the summit.
During the COP 27, which started on Sunday November 6th, some leaders will be absent from the summit. “Among the major absentees is President Xi Jinping. However, China is the biggest polluter on the planet,” explains journalist Christelle Méral in Duplex from Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt). US President Joe Biden will be in attendance, but if the Republicans win the midterm elections, “it could jeopardize his climate plan,” the journalist continued.
“Emmanuel Macron, he will be there tomorrow,” says Christelle Méral, who specifies that the head of state wants to promote specific projects with poor countries. The new Brazilian President Lula will also be present and promises to protect the Amazon rainforest. “In the end there could be some progress, but we shouldn’t count on the big night,” concludes the journalist.
