Be it the war in Ukraine, the election of the federal president or the monkeypox: Google knows what moved Austrians and once again provides an overview of the dominant topics in the search engine.
What was Austria looking for? Once again, the search engine giant provides an insight into Austria’s seeking soul. This year review is not about the most searched terms, but the trends that caused fluctuations in search results in the short or long term. Trends are divided into different categories. First of all: even after more than two years, the corona pandemic is dominating Google searches, but the war in Ukraine and its aftermath are another dominant trend this year.
The pandemic is still an important topic and continued to be the most asked topic after “Ukraine”. The World Cup in Qatar was also on the podium, not least because it is a very controversial topic”, says Wolfgang Fasching-Kapfenberger, spokesman for Google Austria.
While Sebastian Kurz dominated Google trends last year, there’s not much to see from government politicians this year. On the other hand, candidates for the federal presidential election, especially Grosz and Wallentin, were often sought after. Whether before or after, Google leaves it open.

Questions that don’t necessarily reflect the themes of the year, but certainly have a certain amount of entertainment value. But it also shows: Dr. Google still exists. Instead of discussing the symptoms with the doctor, they try the internet first.

Lack of education. In fact, it’s a form of affection, as four-legged friends like to express. As a love ritual, you should not copy it. This can lead to rejection and massive bewilderment with unexpected reactions.
5. Why were false eyelashes invented?
Indeed, there is something to be learned from this question. Because false eyelashes for a seductive look will soon be celebrating their 100th anniversary. They were created for the production of the musical “Chicago” in 1927.
