Protein bars sold at Costco in eight states, including California, have been recalled. Protein bar maker Wellness Natural USA initiated the voluntary recall on March 31, according to KRON4.

The recalled bars were on Costco shelves between February 27, 2023 and March 31, 2023. The specific protein bar was sold in 15-bar variety packs with three different flavors. The code number TN3005A was marked on each package and on the outside of the variety pack box. People with a severe allergy to cashews are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction when consuming Simply Protein Peanut Butter Chocolate Crispy Bars, code number TN3005A.

Neither of the other two flavors in the pack have been identified as affected by the recall announcement. However, buyers of the product can return the entire variety pack for a full refund from Costco.

A consumer complaint is currently the only report of an allergic reaction. It’s unclear which state this individual made the purchase in, or if other reactions weren’t reported. Wellness Natural USA, based in Wilmington, Delaware, is still investigating what led to traces of undeclared cashews in its Simply Protein Crunchy Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars.
