Cricket legend Steve Smith is cutting the price of his luxury Bronte bungalow by $500,000 as he struggles to sell it for $7 million

Steve Smith has slashed the asking price of his luxury Sydney beach house by $500,000 after he and his wife Dani Willis struggled to sell it for $7 million.

The 34-year-old cricket legend, who bought the bungalow for $3.5 million in 2019, has also canceled the scheduled auction date twice.

The couple’s initial asking prices were lowered to a private contract guide price of $6.5 million, The Sunday Telegraph reported.

Although no buyer has been found for the Gordan Place property, the offer remains with Tanya Hatton and Frank Colacicco of Bentley Estate Agents.

It looks like Steve is trying to hit it big again after selling his Vaucluse mansion last year for $12.38 million, which was double what he originally paid for in 2020 had paid.

The sportsman listed his current home in the eastern suburbs last month, while the four-bedroom, three-bathroom Bronte property was first put up for auction last Saturday.

Steve expected to make $7 million after embarking on a major renovation in 2019 when he bought the apartment for $3.5 million.

Located just 9km from the CBD and just a few streets from Bronte Beach, the original home was built as a one-story Californian bungalow.

Steve completely renovated and remodeled the home, adding a second level, bathrooms and a fourth bedroom.

The new design transformed the mid-20th century original into a chic, ultra-modern, resort-style home.

Highlights include an expansive open floor plan, European oak floors, and a saltwater plunge pool.

There is also a covered outdoor entertainment patio/BBQ area, a limestone patio and a heated outdoor shower.

Additional highlights include an oversized kitchen with a breakfast island, marble countertops, and an induction stove.

According to documents submitted to Waverley Council by Daniel Sutton of Precision Planning, the renovations cost Steve $495,000.
