A new channel will appear in the cable network operators’ basic package this fall. The CRTC requires providers to carry Natyf TV, a French-language channel that celebrates diversity.

The organization’s decision was made public on Thursday. The monthly cost of the basic service remains unchanged despite the inclusion of Natyf TV, the CRTC said.
Natyf TV was launched in June 2018. The program consists of programs that address culture, well-being and various social issues. Its mission is to reflect the concerns of the diverse French-speaking cultural communities it serves. The programs also come from creators from cultural communities.
In a press release, Natyf TV’s general director Jean-Yves Roux welcomed the CRTC’s ruling. “Despite strong opposition from telecommunications companies who wanted to obtain our license, we will prove this to the industry [l’organisme] made the right decision.
