Heads of government, senior officials, foreign ministers and diplomats from more than 60 countries will arrive in Guatemala this Saturday for tomorrow's inauguration of President-elect Bernardo Arévalo.

On January 14, there will be a ceremonial session of Congress in the legislature itself (without heads of state or delegations) and then another corresponding to the swearing-in and inauguration ceremony.

The latter will take place between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time in the Efraín Recinos Great Hall at the Miguel Ángel Asturias Cultural Center.

Arévalo, a sociologist by profession and former diplomat, is described as a progressive and surprise winner of the 2023 elections and will assume the presidency for the period 2024-2028.
