Did anything happen at Bayern at the weekend?
Bayern Munich famously (or infamously) paid RB Leipzig a hefty sum (around €25m, although some of that may now be in dispute) for the right to land Julian Nagelsmann.
Now the club will try to get some of that loot back in case another club tries to ink Nagelsmann before summer:
If a club wants to sign Julian Nagelsmann before the summer, he would have to pay a fee to Bayern Munich.
Waiting until there are no more costs associated with Nagelsmann seems like a no-brainer for everyone. However, some clubs could be desperate for their ‘next man up’ and maybe Bayern Munich could even get back a little of what they originally paid for Nagelsmann.
Could there already be a buyer in England???
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Bayern Munich player is happy to leave the club but there’s a chance Thomas Tuchel has other plans for the Austrian star.
With his loan deal going well at Manchester United, Sabitzer is definitely an eye-opener and could soon attract interest from other clubs. However, now Sabitzer has to meet with Tuchel to see if the new boss has any plans for him:
It’s now the Wild West for squad planning. Borrowers need to figure out where they fit in. The goal list of FC Bayern Munich must now be deleted and reissued.
For Sabitzer, a crucial part of his status will likely depend on whether Konrad Laimer still joins Bayern Munich or not. Early reports suggest Laimer is still set to join Bayern Munich but nothing is certain at the moment.
With his performances for Manchester United and most recently for Austria, Sabitzer is well positioned for options.
Bayern Munich might be on hiatus, but BFW has plenty of hot topics – and maybe some hot takes – to chat about.
Join this week’s weekend warm-up podcast where we have a bunch of good talking points on the agenda including:
- Why Bayern Munich should extend Benjamin Pavard’s contract
- Germany’s squad selection and why it was a necessity for Hansi Flick.
- FC Barcelona could sell Robert Lewandowski… would you bring him back?
- Sadio Mané’s acquisition was announced in the summer, but there were always reasons to believe it wouldn’t be a perfect fit. Is he successful? Is it fair to judge him at this point? Would you do the step again?
Take a look at Thomas Tuchel’s first day at work:
Ex-Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland already seems ready for a salary increase at Manchester City:
Since moving to Manchester City, Erling Haaland has broken record after record. Therefore, according to information from the Mirror, the Citizens are apparently preparing a new contract for the Norwegian, which should make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.
In his current contract, which runs until 2027, Haaland earns 375,000 euros per week. This means he is already one of the top earners in the squad alongside Kevin De Bruyne.
With his new contract, Haaland would earn an incredible 570,000 euros a week – the contract period is also to be extended by twelve months, i.e. until 2028.
The reason for the premature extension of the contract are statements by the player’s advisor Rafaela Pimenta, who repeatedly associates the exceptional striker with a move to Real Madrid: “There is the Premier League and there is Real Madrid. Real Madrid has something of its own that makes it a dreamland for players. Madrid keeps that magic going. They don’t have the league competition every week, but they have the Champions League.”
That’s just a huge amount of money.
So this came out of nowhere and we just HAD to respond to it. FC Bayern Munich have decided to sack Julian Nagelsmann with immediate effect, with former Chelsea and BVB coach Thomas Tuchel to be appointed as his successor. This is an amazing development, especially considering the timing during an international break and the game against Borussia Dortmund that followed immediately afterwards.
In this special edition of the reaction (or rant) episode, INNN and Schnitzel talk about the following:
- The strange timing of the decision.
- Back and forth about Nagelsmann’s record and the decision to fire him.
- Can Thomas Tuchel get Bayern on track ahead of BVB and Manchester City?
- What criteria does Tuchel have to meet in order to be successful at Bayern?
- What happens to the board if Tuchel can’t hack it?
- And arguments. Many, many arguments. For some reason mostly about the DFB-Pokal.
Real Madrid and FC Barcelona emerged as two of the leaders, eventually taking on Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz. However, now Los Blancos could spoil the chase:
Real Madrid will not sign Florian Wirtz this summer as the 19-year-old German prodigy is reportedly dreaming of joining Barcelona.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Florian Wirtz is unlikely to join Real Madrid. The reigning LaLiga champions have ruled out signing the 19-year-old prodigy. And the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder dreams of joining Barcelona if he leaves the Bundesliga side.
Real Madrid will finalize a succession plan for Luka Modric and Toni Kroos this year. The two veteran midfielders are nearing the end of their illustrious careers. And while they may last another season, the Merengues need to plan for life after the duo. Several players have appeared on Real Madrid’s radar, with Jude Bellingham being the primary target.
But Wirtz has also emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid. But the reigning LaLiga champions have now ruled out a summer move for the 19-year-old prodigy. Because the youngster dreams of joining Barcelona when he leaves Bayer Leverkusen.
Inter Milan could be looking to sign Chelsea FC’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang:
Inter could offer to take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of Chelsea hands this summer as the striker endures a nightmare debut season at Stamford Bridge.
