“Danger of attack”: Six airports in France evacuated

Police say six airports in France were evacuated after “threats of attack” were received in the mail.

The evacuated airports are in Lille, Lyon (Bronze), Nantes, Nice, Toulouse and Beauvais, a police source told AFP. No Paris airport is affected.

However, according to Nice Airport’s statement, “there was only a warning about the suspicious package, which was a frequent occurrence and required the creation of a security area. But everything is back to normal.”

For its part, a spokesman for the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) confirmed on Wednesday morning “bomb threats” and “evacuations of terminals” on four platforms – Lille, Lyon, Toulouse and Beauvais (north of Paris) – without being able to immediately provide further details admit.

According to the DGAC’s online dashboard, there were significant delays shortly after midday at three airports: Toulouse-Blagnac (southwest), Lille-Lesquin (north) and Beauvais-Tillé.

At Bron Airport – a business airport – “concerns have been addressed and traffic has resumed,” airport management clarified.

In Lille, “the terminal was evacuated around 10:30 a.m.,” said a spokesman. “It’s not a busy day,” she added.

Flights from Marrakech, Geneva and Constantine that were scheduled to land between 11:05 and 11:40 a.m. were diverted, Lille airport’s website said.

“State security services are on site,” the airport stated on X (formerly Twitter).

Bomb threats have been increasing in France since the murder of a professor in the north of the country on Friday by a young radicalized Islamist. The Louvre Museum and the Palace of Versailles were therefore evacuated on Saturday and Tuesday, respectively.
