Shani Louk’s cousin was here on October 15 to demand the release of the young woman who has been held hostage by Hamas since the surprise attack on October 7 at a rave party near Gaza.

INTERNATIONAL – She was one of the faces of the Hamas attack during the rave party in the desert and, more generally, of the victims of the Palestinian terror group’s offensive against Israel on October 7. 22-year-old Shani Louk, portrayed as one of Hamas’s Israeli-German hostages, has died, her mother told German broadcaster RTL on Monday, October 30.

“Unfortunately we found out yesterday that my daughter is no longer alive,” said Ricarda Louk. Information shared with him by the Israeli army. The Israeli Foreign Ministry later confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that it had found and identified the body of Shani, who was “tortured” and “experienced unfathomable horrors.”

According to Ricarda, her daughter has died since October 7, but her body has not yet been found. It was a piece of bone from the young woman’s skull, which would have made identification possible thanks to the DNA comparison material provided by the family. Shani’s mother had previously assured on ARD television that she had information that her daughter was “in a critical situation” and was “alive, but seriously injured in the head.”

“We call on the German government to act quickly (…) We have to act quickly to get Shani out of the Gaza Strip,” Ricarda also demanded in this video, which was published a few days earlier.

Symbol of Hamas’ surprise attack

On October 7, Shani Louk’s face went around the world and became a symbol of Hamas’s barbaric acts after an unbearable video was released showing the German festival-goer unconscious and naked in the back of a car van being driven by was driven by armed men who appeared to be celebrating his capture.

Recognizable by her tattoos and haircut, Shani was identified by her family, who then continued to hope to find her daughter alive. And as La Libre Belgique and the German newspaper Spiegel recalled, hope remained alive thanks to credit card spending and calls to hospitals in Gaza.

As AFP reported, Shani was at the Tribe of Nova festival near the Gaza border as part of a vacation with friends before resuming his studies in Berlin. She was one of around 230 hostages kidnapped by Hamas commandos and identified by Israeli authorities.
