Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke revealed he’s “sore all over” after crashing his Lexus LS 500 into a Malibu gate in Malibu last week and sustaining minor injuries.
In his first public sighting since the scary collision, which left him with a painful lip injury and two stitches, the 97-year-old actor appeared perky as he was driven around town by his wife Arlene Silver, 51, in an exclusive DailyMail.com- Video taken on Friday.
After getting up from the passenger seat, the Mary Poppins star described being planted squarely in his steering wheel because his airbag wouldn’t deploy.
“I’m fine, just sore all over,” he told photographers when asked how his recovery was going. “The airbag didn’t deploy so I just planted a face right in the steering wheel and it just made me a little dumber.”
The feisty performer then showed off his busted lip before musing, “I’m 97, all my friends are dead.”

He also credited his wife for taking great care of him, saying “without her” he would “probably be dead.”
The makeup artist, who tied the knot with the four-time Emmy winner in 2012, six years after they met at the SAG Awards, wore a red and black striped blouse under a quilted vest, tan UGG boots and a turquoise one Purse.
Meanwhile, her husband wore a dark blue and white long-sleeved shirt, camouflage pants and black sneakers.
The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang alumnus is said to have slipped in the rain and lost control of his vehicle.
Van Dyke was treated at the scene by paramedics as he suffered from a bloody nose and mouth and possible concussion. He was not taken to the hospital but was picked up by a friend and driven home.
Sources told TMZ that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident, but police officers have requested that Van Dyke be re-tested because of his age.
The accident happened ten years after Van Dyke was pulled from his Jaguar after it caught fire on Highway 101 in the Calabasas area of LA on August 19, 2013.
A man named Jason Pennington saved the day after spotting the car full of smoke on the side of the road.

Mr Pennington told TMZ at the time that he saw an elderly man leaning over the vehicle’s steering wheel and rushing to the scene.
He pulled over and saw the actor struggling inside after running to the smoking car.
Van Dyke did not require medical attention after the incident, although he appeared slightly disoriented.
Wednesday’s crash came just weeks after the actor credited his wife, 51-year-old makeup artist Arlene Silver, with holding the key to his youth.
Dick married Silver – who is almost half his age – in 2012 and previously revealed that the couple keep fit by singing and dancing together.
He recently demonstrated his staying power on The Masked Singer US, where he wowed audiences with his performance as Gnome.
As for the key to his energy, Van Dyke told Yahoo: “Gene, I think, for one thing. Having a beautiful young woman half my age to take care of me – it works!

He continued: “And another thing is, I’ve written a book called Keep Moving. I still go to the gym three days a week and work out.

“I never met or saw anyone! I have to go back and meet her in person because no one has ever seen me and I have never seen her. It was strange.’
The legendary entertainer performed a hilarious rendition of Frank Sinatra’s When You’re Smiling on the show, leaving panelist Nicole Scherzinger, 44, in tears as he revealed his identity.
In December, the actor turned 97 and jokingly told DailyMail.com: “Well if I had known I was going to live that long I would have taken better care of myself!”
When asked what his secret to living a long and healthy life is, he laughed and added, “Well I don’t know, all my friends are dead so I won’t complain!”
Van Dyke, whose screen career has spanned seven decades, remains active and vivacious despite his old age, often roaming his Malibu neighborhood and usually making solo trips to the drugstore or grocery store. He is frequently seen behind the wheel of his silver Lexus.
In October last year, the popular actor was spotted handing out money to job seekers and chatting with the homeless in Malibu.
He visited his favorite nonprofit organization, the Malibu Community Labor Exchange, which helps bring employers and job seekers together.
The actor passed out $5 bills and took time to chat with several workers and bring joy to the nearby homeless.
“Anytime I’ve got a couple of fives, I drop by,” Dick said. “You can’t do it all the time though.”
