The first vice president of the United Socialist Party, Diosdado Cabello, on Thursday gave information about a new corruption plot in connection with the state-owned company Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).
After resigning from the National Assembly (Parliament), where the organic law on the liquidation of assets was passed this Thursday, the also president of the internal commission of the legislature announced the confiscation of a hundred trucks (large vehicles) of the pdvsa.
The transports, he explained, were seized yesterday by the National Integrated Customs and Excise Administration as they attempted to privatize fuel distribution.
He said that a person brought the trucks with money from the state-owned company Petróleos de Venezuela and rescued them to “perform a private service” and collect a fee for it.
The party leader pointed out that one of the problematic things was the fuel issue, and there they would set up a private business, “a business with PDVSA funds,” he noted. Those who were there had absolute power to make the decisions they felt were best, he said.
Commenting on the seizures by the authorities in the various corruption schemes under the Caiga quien caiga operation, Cabelló revealed the seizure of more than 10,000 major assets.
I’m not talking about chairs or tables, he said, noting that it was a house with all its furniture, a building with everything and a fleet of vehicles.
Days ago, President Nicolás Maduro reported the seizure of more than 500 high-end vehicles, which he said will be turned over to police forces.
Parliament today unanimously approved the Organic Law on Forfeiture of Assets, a new tool that the state must have to fight corruption.
The head of the legislature, Jorge Rodríguez, expressed his satisfaction that the regulations proposed by the United Socialist Party were approved and also accepted by the opposition MPs.
He pointed out that the legal instrument is now referred to the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court for the purposes set out in Article 203 of the Constitution of the Republic, with reference to organic laws.
Rodríguez considered the law very important in the fight against corruption in the Bolivarian Republic.
Consisting of 46 articles and four chapters, the regulation aims to repair the damage caused to the state and the population by acts of corruption, through mechanisms that allow the identification, localization and recovery of ill-gotten property.
