The Israeli army confirms attacks on Khan Younes

The Israeli army confirms that it attacked Khan Younes in the south of the Gaza Strip last night.

“During the night, the air force attacked the heart of the city of Khan Younes, destroying the military infrastructure where the terrorists operated, as well as the underground wells,” the army wrote on X (ex-Twitter).

They also claim to have carried out an attack on “a military contact point of the Hamas terrorist organization near a mosque in the south of the Gaza Strip.”

A French frigate shoots down two drones coming from Yemen in the Red Sea

A French frigate patrolling the Red Sea shot down two drones overnight that came from northern Yemen, an area under the control of Houthi rebels who are threatening to block traffic in this strategic area as part of the conflict between Israel and Hamas to disrupt the sea route.

“The interception and destruction of these two different threats” took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday, 110 kilometers from the Yemeni coast, near Hodeida, a port in northern Yemen that is under the control of the Houthi rebels the Army General Staff said in a press release.

The Houthis threatened on Saturday to attack any ship in the Red Sea bound for Israel if the population of the Gaza Strip did not receive emergency aid.

The situation of the civilian population in the south of the Gaza Strip is worrying

Right at the start of its ground offensive, the Israeli army called on the population of the northern Gaza Strip to move south. But as fighting intensifies in the south, fear for the civilian population in the Gaza Strip and especially in the south is growing.

“Nearly a million children have been forcibly displaced and are being pushed further south into tiny, overcrowded areas without water, food and protection,” said UNICEF Middle East Director Adele Khodr.

“Restrictions on the delivery of life-saving aid through the Gaza Strip are an additional death sentence for children,” she added in a statement on Saturday.

Israel wants to “increase military pressure” in the Gaza Strip.

“We have to increase the pressure,” said his army chief Herzi Halevi on Saturday, reporting a growing number of “killed” Hamas fighters.

“Every day we see more and more terrorists being killed, more and more terrorists being injured, and in the last few days we are seeing terrorists surrendering. This is a sign that their network is collapsing, a sign that we need to increase the pressure,” General Herzi said Halevi during a ceremony at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

Airstrikes near Khan Yunis, Hamas says

Early Sunday, Israeli planes carried out “very heavy airstrikes” near Khan Yunis and on the road between that town and Rafah, near the border with Egypt, the Hamas government said. An AFP journalist was able to observe the attacks in the southern Gaza Strip.

A few hours later, a source close to the military branches of Hamas and Islamic Jihad told AFP that the two movements were engaged in “violent clashes” over Khan Younes.
