Diss track written by Megan Thee Stallion’s ex-girlfriend submitted to evidence in Tory Lanez trial

As prosecutors seek to close their case in the high-profile criminal case against Tory Lanez for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, on Monday they requested additional testimony from LAPD Officer Sandra Cabral and DA Lead Investigator Jody Little.

Little (whose September interview with Harris was played in full in court on Dec. 16) was called to the witness stand by assistant prosecutor Kathy Ta to review texts by Megan’s former girlfriend — and ex-assistant — Kelsey Harris. The diss track Harris released in the wake of the shooting in 2020, titled “Bussin Back,” includes a direct mention of the roadside assault: “(Who shot ya?) ‘Cause you know it wasn’t me / I was 10 toes down whenever you had beef.”

During cross-examination, Lanez Little’s attorney asked about lyrics in the song implying that Megan, whose birth name is Megan Pete, lied to the district attorney (“Imagine lying to the district attorney and saying I took hush money” ). Harris also references “Dez” (“Dez said when I spoke that a sex tape might fall”) in the track, who is believed to be Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, according to a report by Billboard’s Come on Mamo.

Harris was absent from Monday’s court session, but Lanez – real name Daystar Peterson – was, as he has been for the past five days of the trial.

Officer Cabral was called for additional questioning of body cam footage played for the jury showing Harris on the night of the shooting. Scenes show Harris on the ground with Peterson and his driver nearby while they await police orders, according to Law & Crime Megan Cuniff. Harris was described by Cabral as “distraught” and “crying,” and Pete is heard asking if she’s okay, to which Pete replies, “Yes.”

Under cross-examination, Lanez’s attorney, George Mgdesyan Cabral, asked if she saw his client’s behavior, but said her focus was solely on Harris. Mgdesyan also questioned Cabral about ties to prosecutors, which she denied.

have prosecutors asked for an extra day to bring the case or permission to rest and then reopen it with the intention of locating an unidentified witness believed by many to be Justin Edison – Pete’s former security chief – who on December 16 failed to appeared before the court to testify. Pete’s attorney has released statements that police are looking for him, but the LAPD has yet to file a missing persons report. Pete’s former stylist, Eric Culverson, was also called to the booth when he was present at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home ahead of filming with Harris, Pete and Peterson.

Harris has previously testified that much of her memory of that night was “blurred” due to drinking at the event and has backtracked some of her statements from the September interview, in which she initially confirmed that Peterson was the shooter. Peterson denies that claim and his defense team has pointed the finger at Harris based on DNA evidence found on the gun, though she testified those remarks were “ridiculous.”

More witnesses are scheduled to take the stand tomorrow morning.
