He presented to the hospital in Toulon, France, with a World War I bullet lodged in his rectum. The 88-year-old said: “Doctor, I have a bomb in my butt.” It happened last Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Sainte Musse Hospital in Toulon, a city in the south of the country. The hospital was immediately evacuated for safety reasons. The bullet could have exploded, so “when in doubt, we took every precaution possible,” hospital officials said.
The old man had inserted the 20 cm long and 5 cm wide ball into the rectum for sexual pleasure. The bomb was a WWI collector’s item that was widely used by the French Army in the early 20th century.
According to explosives experts, the risk of the bullet exploding inside the man was low. And so, despite their understandable fear, the doctors decided to surgically remove the object from the man’s body, making an incision. The man’s condition is good: he is slowly recovering from the operation and the fright.
