The family discovers the true breed of dog two years after purchasing it. A Chinese family bought a dog a few years ago, believing it to be a Tibetan mastiff. But it was only after two years of living with the animal that they realized that it was actually a different breed. The case took place in Yunan province in 2018 but recently went viral on the internet.
The dog that wasn’t really a dog
The animal, which the family thought was a simple dog, was actually a wild bear. According to the American website New York Post, Chinese woman Su Yun, who lives in a small village on the outskirts of the city of Kunming, bought the animal in 2016 and for two years had no idea that the animal was not a puppy.
The family stayed with the animal for two years before realizing it was overgrowing. Su Yun told Chinese staterun TV CGTN, “The more he grew, the more he looked like a bear.”
In 2018, the bear already weighed over 100 kg and showed no signs of stopping growth. In addition, the “dog” had an insatiable appetite, devouring a crate of fruit and two buckets of pasta every day. Aside from the fact that the animal could literally walk upright, it supported itself on its hind legs and all this began to attract the attention of the family.
What happened to the animal?
The family took the animal to authorities, an animal rescue team managed to determine that it was not a Tibetan Mastiff but an Asiatic black bear, a species listed as Vulnerable and Vulnerable.
And to draw attention to the case, it is good to point out that the dog is of the breed tibetan mastiff, which has been confused with the bear, is a very large breed of dog, a male can weigh 70 kg. In addition, these pets are one of the rarest dog breeds in the world and it is very difficult to find them outside of China.
