Don Omar and Daddy Yankee have ended their years-long feud and rivalryand they made peace.

In separate social media posts, the two reggaeton titans expressed their appreciation for each other and acknowledged the important role each has played in globalizing the genre. Don Omar was the first to post a lengthy message on Instagram on Tuesday (December 12), days after Yankee performed his farewell show in Puerto Rico following his retirement and announcement of dedicating his life to Christianity .

“Today we close the book that captured the best chapters of our controversial rivalry.”said the “Dale Don Dale” singer. “Thank you for your words and for listening to mine, which also came from the heart. I wish you and your family all the best. Thank you for your competitive spirit and admirable discipline, but more than that, thank you for what you have done for our music.”

He continued: “Thank you so much for collaborating and competing because I have done it with a titan. What remains are the beautiful memories, the laughter, the shared dreams and the wish for one last round with such a great opponent. We will see each other again soon because I owe you a hug and thank you personally. In the meantime, live King Papa.”

Recently, Don Omar announced his return to the stage with an ambitious tour of the United States, “Back to Reggaetón,” produced by CMN and beginning in March. Shortly after Don Omar shared his post with his more than 9 million followers, Yankee also had some heartfelt words for the artist with whom he has repeatedly feuded throughout his decades-long career.

“William, thank you for giving us both the opportunity to speak from the bottom of our hearts,” Yankee began. “Don Omar also did great things for this genre and despite the rivalry that, as you say, divided us, today I feel reassured knowing that that is behind us and we are an example of that Although we have differences, there will always be room for apology. You were also a great opponent and I will never stop recognizing everything you did for our movement too.”

In conclusion, Yankee said he felt “calm and at peace” knowing they were putting behind them the controversies they often faced. “I hope our final turn is against the enemy of souls, fighting together in the army of the Lord! I will wait for you on this site! God bless you, your family and all your loyal followers.”

In 2016, both artists met for the first time for a Mano a Mano panel at Billboard Latin Music Week. Although there was little interaction between the two, Don and Yankee were polite to each other and took turns answering questions from Billboard's Leila Cobo.

Despite everything and the rivalry, the two worked together over the years. In 2003 they released “Gata Gangster” and “La noche is good” with Héctor “El Father”. Two years later they released “Yo soy de aqui” and in 2020 “Hastabajo remix”. They also toured together in 2016.
