Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson make extremists dream: the American nightmare

While Joe Biden is playing the balancing act in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, his presumed opponent is already talking about possible candidates for the 2024 election campaign.

Last week, the 45th president hinted that he might consider Tucker Carlson.

Trump and Carlson: a stormy relationship

During the legal battle between Dominion Voting Systems and Fox News earlier this year, a significant number of private messages from network stars were revealed.

We could then see all the hypocrisy of some of them who, after spreading the former president’s lies to their audience, acknowledged Trump’s defeat in 2020.

Several emails or text messages from Tucker Carlson left no doubt about what he thought of the New York businessman. Carlson thought he was particularly evil, only good at destroying things: “He is the undisputed world champion at that.” Nothing less than a world champion in this field!

Even worse, the former host admitted to hating Trump with a passion and called him a demonic destroyer: “He is a demonic force, a destroyer. But he won’t destroy us. He then claimed to have dreamed about the moment he left the White House for four years.

A shock duo

As soon as news of a possible alliance between the two tenor demagogues spread, everyone swarming among radical conservatives and within the far right began to roar. Trump and Carlson seem to revel in chaos and their rhetoric is similar.

The two men not only know how to inspire their followers, they would also complement each other well. While Trump is impulsive and confident, Carlson is strategic and calculating. Carlson is more dangerous than Trump and knows exactly what he is doing.

The duo got back together last summer. When Trump turned up his nose at the first Republican debate, he granted Carlson an interview on X (formerly Twitter). The host ignored revealing his hateful messages towards the former president and instead claimed that he loved him.

Nothing has been decided yet, but we know that the two men are not afraid of a good deal and that the means by which they achieve their goals does not matter. Add political power to the lure of profit and they are willing to do anything.

Our neighbors will be there in 2023. A former president whose several associates are behind bars, a former president who never stops settling his scores in court, could team up with a host deemed too destructive for a network doomed to 787 million to pay for it lies.

The most frightening thing? Both are courting the far right and their supporters are eager to take their word for it. As long as we know the history of the 20th century, we know where it can lead…
