Donald Trump has a double digit lead over Joe Biden in the latest pre election poll

A new poll released Sunday showed former President Donald Trump with a 10-point lead over President Joe Biden among American voters.

According to the poll published by The Washington Post and ABC News, if the 2024 presidential election were held today, the Republican would receive 52% of the vote, while the Democratic leader would only get 42%.

The latest poll found voters have a low opinion of Biden’s handling of the economy and the U.S.-Mexico border. and once again his age and his doubts about his ability to stand for eventual re-election stood out.

70% of respondents said the Democratic leader was too old for office, while 50% said the same about Trump.

With this in mind, Biden’s approval rating is 37%, while 56% of respondents actively oppose his presidency.

Similarly, nearly 60% of Democratic respondents or undecideds with this bias say they would prefer a different candidate. Critics also cited his handling of the economy and the current border crisis as weaknesses in his government.

However, the Washington Post explained that Trump’s sizable lead was “significantly divided.” with other public polls showing a virtual tie.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s decision to launch an impeachment inquiry against Biden also benefited Republicans: 58% of respondents said Biden should be held accountable under the law like any other president. According to the poll, only 32% said Biden was being unfairly victimized.

Among younger voters Trump also has a significant lead over Biden, at 20% among voters under 35.

The survey was conducted September 15-20 using a random sample of 1,006 American adults and contacted via landline and cell phones, with a margin of error of 3.5%.
