Drew Barrymore and Idina Menzel looked incredibly glamorous as they arrived at the Kennedy Center to watch their former co-star Adam Sandler receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday night.
As she prepared to see the Murder Mystery star, 56, receive one of the most prestigious awards in comedy, the Blended actress, 48, donned an elegant black, strapless dress, detailed with floral lace and a cute bow adorned at the neck.
She accessorised her floor length dress with a pair of dazzling statement earrings, a black and gold clutch and her auburn locks styled in cascading waves.
Posing for numerous red carpet photos, the mother-of-two, who rose to fame as a child actress with her breakout role on ET the Extra-Terrestrial, smiled and gave the camera a smoldering look.
Over the past two decades, Barrymore and Sandler have starred in the films The Wedding Singer (1998), 50 First Dates (2004), and Blended (2014).

Menzel, who also worked with Sandler on crime drama Uncut Gems (2019) and upcoming comedy You Are SO Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah! wore a beige and black striped dress and a pair of open heels.
For makeup, she wore glossy pink lipstick, bronzer for a sun-kissed glow, and smoky gray eyeshadow.
In December, it was announced that Sandler would become the 24th recipient of the Mark Twain Prize, widely regarded as one of the highest honors an entertainer can achieve.
Sandler joins an illustrious pantheon of comedy legends, past winners include Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg to name a few.
“Adam Sandler has entertained audiences with his films, music and tenure as SNL’s fan-favorite actor for over three decades,” said Deborah F. Rutter, President of the Kennedy Center.
Her statement ended, “Adam created characters that made us laugh, cry, and cry with laughter.”
According to the Kennedy Center, the annual award is designed to recognize artists “who have had an impact on American society,” reflecting the influence of legendary humorist Mark Twain.
With 57 films under his belt and a combined box office total of over $3 billion worldwide, Sandler’s polarizing career seems to have put a long period of critical ridicule behind him and officially entered a new phase of enduring respect.

After exploding on SNL in 1990 at the age of 23, Sandler had a thriving film career in Hollywood as a comedy star and cultivated a large and devoted fan base.
Some of his early hits included “Billy Madison,” “Big Daddy,” “Happy Gilmore,” and “The Wedding Singer,” which established Sandler as a heavyweight in the genre when it came to box office, but not necessarily when it came to critical reviews .
Many critics have slandered much of Sandler’s earlier film work, helping him rack up a staggering nine Golden Raspberry Awards — the polar opposite of an Oscar — and 37 nominations.
None of that diminished the Hubie Halloween star’s ability to pull in big paydays in Hollywood as he renewed his lucrative deal with Netflix in 2020, reportedly securing $250 million for four more films.
