On August 21, two days before the arrest, Busto was charged on the stage where Barrymore was during an interview with Reneé Rapp at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, the outlet reported.
According to the New York Post, at the event, Busto shouted to Barrymore, “You know who I am! I have to see you sometime while you’re in New York!”
Busto was kept off the stage by a security guard on the premises while Rapp led Barrymore off the stage.

In an Aug. 25 hearing in Southampton Town Justice Court, Judge Barbara Wilson released Busto — who was charged with fourth-degree stalking in the incident at her home — on the condition that he be equipped with a GPS tracker.
At the hearing, Busto told the court that he was bankrupt and wanted to live in a shelter. He said he was scheduled to appear for a hearing in federal court in Texas on September 3.

Busto told that he crossed paths with Barrymore about ten years ago and was hoping for a romance with her.
A source close to Barrymore said the actress was not fazed by the disturbing series of events.
“Drew feels good, feels safe and even in that moment it happened so quickly that she was fine and not stressed,” the source said. “She has put the incident behind her knowing that people were there to protect her.”
The source continued: “The only thing she didn’t want was for the incident to become the thing to remember that night, so once it was over she forgot about it and continued talking to Renee and doing “Undo it.” Focus on the conversation again, that was important to Drew.
“She will not change the way she lives her life and protects herself. All of these things are and have been imposed on her throughout her life, and she doesn’t want anyone to worry about her well-being.”
