Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauers exit from Strictly Come Dancing

Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauer’s exit from Strictly Come Dancing is considered “inevitable” due to their risky dance choice.

Eddie Kadi became the fourth contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2023 after the dance-off on Sunday, alongside his dance partner Karen Hauer.

The 40-year-old comedian had to face the dreaded dance-off against Love Island star Zara McDermott but failed to impress the judges and was sent off.

But their fate in the competition may have already been sealed when their dance style was awarded to them.

Eddie and Karen performed a samba to “Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez this week.

They only achieved a disappointing 24 out of 40 points for their performance, placing them last on the leaderboard.

But the pair had a risky job ahead of them from the start, as Samba has a notoriously poor track record.

Research has found that Brazilian dance is the style most likely to send a celebrity home from the show.

According to William Hill Vegas, 20.6% of couples eliminated in the last six series were dancing the samba when they were sent away.

This means that the samba led to one in five exits, including that series’ star, Les Dennis, who bowed out in the second week after trying his hand at the dance.

The Samba is no guarantee of failure, however, as Bobby Brazier, Ellie Leach and Layton Williams have already tackled the genre in this series and maintained their places in the competition with respectable results.

Taking part in the tricky dance also gives a celebrity a chance to showcase their talent and skills if they master it.

In 2016, Danny Mac and his partner Oti Mabuse made history when they scored the first perfect 40 points for the samba in the show’s history.

Standing behind the Samba is the trigger for the riskiest style and contributed to 15.5% of exits since 2018.

However, the Cha Cha Cha is also a very dangerous choice as it accounts for 12% of the eliminations.

Eddie and Karen had to say goodbye on Sunday after Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke all voted for Zara to stay.

Craig said: “For me this couple’s dancing quality was far better and the couple I would like to save is Zara and Graziano.”

Meanwhile, Motsi said: “For me it was extremely close.” The quality was actually very, very similar. It came down to the details and I would like to save Zara and Graziano.”

Anton said, “Well, I thought that was an excellent dance. I thought both couples danced very, very well, but for me with a little cleaner technique I would like to save Zara and Graziano.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas also revealed that Zara and Graziano had their votes to stay in the competition.

Speaking about his time on the show, Eddie said: “I really enjoyed it, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do – I love dancing.”

“It was the highest moment of my career – the happiest I’ve ever experienced, but not just for me – my family – my little girl is at home doing the Men in Black dance.”

“More importantly, this little African boy, I just wanted my culture to shine.” Everything I stand for when it comes to my comedy, when it comes to my delivery, is based on my culture, based on my upbringing and I wanted that to shine above all else.

“Even more important is this wonderful queen.” [to Karen]this show has two parts – we want to entertain, I believe God brought this to me, I just want to make people happy and this gem here made me happy – I love you so much, God bless you. ‘

Karen gushed: “You’re a darling, I’ll miss you.” [to Eddie] – Well, see you tomorrow!

“We’re going to start with the Congolese dance.” “I want to thank you so much for being so positive and bringing out so much light and smiles, just a beauty for all of us, I want to thank you so much.”

The remaining couples will hit the dance floor for a spooky Halloween special next week on Saturday, October 28th at 6:40 p.m.
