Edwina Bartholomew’s ‘sexiest’ confession stuns her Sunrise co-stars: ‘Ooh la la’
Sunrise presenter Edwina “Eddy” Bartholomew surprised her breakfast show colleagues on Tuesday with a cheeky confession on television.
The 40-year-old fan favorite revealed she thought it was the Scottish woman with the world’s “sexiest” accent – despite her husband Neil Varcoe being Australian.
Edwina made the revelation after reporting on a new poll that says half of Australian women find “foreign accents” most attractive.
According to data from dating site eHarmony, local women overwhelmingly preferred the French accent, while almost half of respondents found the Australian accent “too bogan”.
The British accent was identified as the “most demanding” in the survey, while the Irish accent was also popular.

Meanwhile, homegrown Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth scored highly in the poll.
Edwina dubbed the Australian heartthrob as “the most popular celebrity accent,” trumping his rivals.
Presenter Natalie Barr poked fun at the result, suggesting it wasn’t the hunky star’s deep voice that fans found appealing.
“It’s not about the abs and arms,” joked Natalie.
A blushing Edwina then responded that she could “listen to” Hemsworth “all day.”
She then added: “I think I would prefer Scottish over French… to not give too much information as my husband isn’t Scottish that’s probably giving too much away but still…”

The popular Sunrise news anchor later shared a clip of the segment on her Instagram with an apology to her husband Neil.
Neil appeared to take his wife’s faux pas with humor, reminding her he had a Scottish grandmother.
The couple, who have children Molly, three, and Tom, recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary.
