This is a necessary step for a future belt fight. The 32-year-old athlete, originally from Mauricie, had been waiting for this opportunity for a long time.

“My first eight laps are a bit like the door that opens for me,” said Houle. I definitely want to fight for at least a small belt this year, that’s the game plan. »

“If things go well, Friday [demain]against Moreno we want to put Marie-Pier on the line in her next fight in a round of 10 with a belt,” supported promoter Yvon Michel, noting that Houle has now filled in some of the gaps she had when she boxed debut as a pro.

Knockout wanted

Like Houle (7-0-1, 2 KOs), Moreno (6-3, 0 KOs) will also be in his first of eight bouts.

In 2022, the Mexican had to admit defeat to her young compatriot Cindy Reyes Espinoza twice in quick succession after six rounds.

“It’s my first eight-round fight, but at the same time it’s sure and sure that I want to finish this fight before the eighth,” added Houle, who is hoping to get broadcast on the ESPN+ platform for a third career knockout .

►Friday night’s gala at Place Bell features six fights, half of which involve women. In addition to Marie-Pier Houle, Derek Pomerleau, Caroline Veyre and Eric Basran each face an opponent from Mexico before the grand final between Kim Clavel and Yesica Nery Plata.
