With this in mind, the Historic Pact has made public its programmatic platform to transform the country in the event of victory in the upcoming May 29 elections.
This coalition, whose formulas include Gustavo Petro as presidential candidate and Francia Márquez as vice president and environment minister, proposes “a new social contract for a good and tasty life with all the diversity of the nation, to be completed to the end in a time of peace .
Its program for change, built from the territories and the voices of its people, refers to the text published by this alliance on different platforms as well as in each act of election, in missionary meetings, meetings with communities and other variants.
It is conceived as the beginning of a transition that will allow for a dignified life in the near future, overcoming violence and social and climatic justice, while consolidating the lasting conditions for a great peace that will give the entire Colombian society a second chance on earth.
Topics such as access to health, education, democratization of the state, peace, art, culture, productive economy, participation of women and recognition of their rights, equality and social justice are the focus of this program.
Other competing groups in this electoral process, which is considered unprecedented due to the combined voting intentions of the progressive, alternative and left forces in the Historic Pact, are also proposing their government plans in line with their ideology.
However, in every public debate, media interview or social network, they try to discredit Petro, who according to all polls is the favorite to win the elections.
This attitude is now turning against his fellow campaigner Francia Márquez, an Afro-Colombian woman of humble origin and a social activist.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that she was the third most-voted presidential candidate at the March 13 bipartisan consultation, a great deal of racist and sexist language, including threats, have been circulating on the networks.
“The slander, the racist demonstrations are not enough, but in less than a month they have twice threatened me with death, along with other social leaders,” said Márquez, calling on the country’s President, Iván Duque, to guarantee his physical integrity guarantee that his family and the leader were also intimidated.
The Senator of the Democratic Republic of Poland, Alexánder López, also joined the defense of the vice-presidential candidate, who has been distinguished since childhood for her fight for the environment.
«How nice it is to observe the effect of @FranciaMarquezM in politics, where she opens the discussion about the language, about the autochthonous, about the many unknown roots and concepts. His message is powerful, so some try to distort it due to his lack of arguments,” he asserted.
In her speeches, the candidate uses words and phrases like “nobody”, “majors and majors”, “everyone, everyone and everyone”, alluding to oblivion, to the urgent involvement of all people, to the ancestors who have ignited one fierce debate in the country.
«I love the language of Francia Márquez. It tastes like a river, fruit, jungle, deep Colombia,” said writer and philosopher Jorge Marel, known to literary critics and readers as El Poeta del Mar.
Márquez, winner of the Goldman environmental award, assures that if he wins the May election, he will work with Petro to support women, indigenous, racist and palanquera communities, for the young and the dispossessed
“We are writing a new history for Colombia. From the Vice Presidency, we will accompany our President Gustavo Petro in the task of achieving a government for life, peace, justice and social equality,” he stressed.
