In the United States, the 2023-2024 school year is quickly approaching. For this reason, there are many North American states that provide financial support to families.
All this with the aim of allowing them to cover the expenses related to their income related to returning to school.
For example, in Philadelphia, a payment of $3,000.00 is granted for minors to attend school. This payment is made possible through the School District of Philadelphia’s Flat Rate Parent Transportation Program.
It is aimed at parents who do not take part in district bus, van or taxi operations. So they decide to take their children to school instead.
The idea is that families will receive $300.00 per month for transportation costs, which equates to $3000.00 per school year.
The truth is that the program is not completely new, but has been implemented as a pilot plan since 2020. However, this school year it will be fully implemented.
What is the authorization based on?
Eligibility for the program varies and depends on how it is implemented in each Philadelphia school. Therefore, an assessment will be made to determine whether the student is eligible for school transportation provided by the district.
If so, you are also eligible for the Philadelphia School District’s Flat Rate Parent Transportation Program.
In addition, some requirements must be met, such as students having to reside in Philadelphia. They must also live 1.5 miles or more from their school.
There are also families who take their children to school by public transport in the morning and use the district’s public transport in the afternoon. In this case, these families will receive $150.00 per month or $1500.00 for the entire school year.
