Enrica Bonaccorti Another two months and I would have died

Enrica Bonaccorti: “Another two months and I would have died.” I had no pain or stinging, then the open heart surgery…

Enrica Bonaccorti had to undergo an eight-hour emergency open heart operation: “Two more months and I would have died.” In a long post on Facebook, the 73-year-old actress and presenter told her followers about these last dramatic months. This is how the story begins: “My dear, dear friends, I haven’t posted anything since mid-July, and not because I was on vacation (..). but for sudden open heart surgery. Bonaccorti writes not only to explain what happened, but also to leave a “trail of knowledge” on those who follow her, perhaps to help someone prevent and pay attention to strange symptoms.

«I had no pain in my heart, I had no pain. My symptoms were just extreme fatigue and real shortness of breath, which I attributed to mild depression and, above all, my age, while my daughter Verdiana kept reminding me how fit Sandra Milo, who is much older than me, was. The only strange thing is that one day in early July I felt a terrible itch all over and my whole body turned bright red in places. (…) Of course, I have myself thoroughly examined by a doctor who finds a stone in a kidney.” A series of tests began until it turned out that all the arteries were blocked, “a few more months and I could walk” .

4 bypasses were necessary, but above all “an open heart operation that lasted a total of eight hours!” The moral of the story: They told me I was very lucky, an accidental discovery that saved my life. In the post, Bonaccorti thanks Prof. Massimo Massetti, director of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the Gemelli Polyclinic, who, together with Dr. Lauria and his team operated, and many others who followed her. “I owe them my life. And also the quality of life that they have made possible for me from the beginning of July until today. Surrounded by wonderful people, their humane way of caring for me helped me overcome the pain and worries.”

And he concludes: “Use my experience, control yourself as best you can and, above all, hope that you have the same luck as me!” I can’t wait to see you again! I hope soon.”
