Eric Duhaime should join the Poilievre team – Le Journal de Montréal

The Conservative Party of Canada could potentially trigger a tidal wave if voting intentions are to be believed, which, according to numerous successive polls, give it a significant lead. However, this trend does not seem to be confirmed in Quebec. In fact, Quebecers remain skeptical of Pierre Poilievre's charms, as well as his strategy and proposals.

Despite an increase in poll numbers, he is still in third place in voting intentions in Quebec, behind the Liberals and the Bloc Québécois. This situation is far from what we observe in other provinces.

How can this resistance be explained? Is this incompatible with the new manager's approach? Is this a reaction to the fact that, unlike his predecessors, he refuses to adapt his strategy to Quebec? Or is it simply a passionate desire to win the election without considering Quebec? It's difficult to say.

What is certain is that Quebec's conservative faction is very discreet or not represented at all in the media landscape. Aside from Pierre Paul Hus, the Quebec lieutenant who supported Pierre Poilievre during the leadership race, the group's other members are few and far between. The challenge perhaps lies in visibility, and to counter this, Pierre Poilievre needs to attract new strong personalities who will fully assume their positions to carry his voice and his vision. A personality immediately comes to mind: Eric Duhaime.

There is no denying that the Quebec Conservative Party is facing difficulties both internally and externally. These difficulties are due not so much to the poor performance of their leader, but rather to a lack of consensus among activists, which makes management and positioning extremely complex.

We can therefore, without being too mistaken, conclude that Eric Duhaime has a more promising political future than his current party. However, he needs a new political vehicle, and the federal conservatives could well be that vehicle. It is a convergence of interests, positions and ideologies. The stars appear to be aligned for a political turning point that could radically change the situation for the Conservatives at both the federal and provincial levels.
