BUENOS AIRES, April 16 (RHC) The left-wing benches of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (EuroLat) condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States is maintaining against Cuba today.
In a joint statement, parliamentarians from Portugal, Uruguay, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador, Greece and Guatemala reiterated that the fence, which has been in place for more than six decades, is the clearest example of Washington’s criminal policies.
We call on the international community to stop the sanctions imposed unilaterally and in violation of international law on many Latin American countries, adds the EuroLat text.
Likewise, it denounces the imperialist attempts “to suffocate the peoples who, within the framework of their sovereignty, have chosen to pursue national policies that are at odds with the interests of the great transnational and concentrated economic power”.
On the other hand, they condemned the UK’s illegal occupation of the Malvinas, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and their surrounding sea areas and expressed their support for Argentina’s claim to sovereignty over these areas.
They also denounced the persecution of indigenous leaders in many Latin American countries. (Source: PL)
