An arctic current and a hot wave reach half of the continent
The weather is going crazy on the old continent. Europe will soon be affected by two completely opposite situations; the first is one arctic current of enormous proportions and the other aHeat wave Quite relevant for the time.
But what happens?
Well, the powerful Azores anticyclone In the next few hours it will position itself between Iceland and Greenlandfishing like that very cold air Arctic, which will first brutally invade Scandinavia (down to -38°C in the plains expected in Sweden) and then Denmark, France, Germany, Poland and the Baltic Republics.
The very cold air it will freeze the atmosphere and the impending disturbance will bring snow to the plains in central-northern France, Germany, Poland, Denmark and all eastern states (particularly on Monday 15th).
The freezing air is blocked by the Alpine barrier.
At the same time, the establishment on the Iberian Peninsula begins the African anticyclone This will trigger the arrival of rather mild currents throughout the Mediterranean. For this reason in Portugal, Spain and central-southern Italy temperatures they will suffer significant increase with typical spring values, if not in some sectors first summer.
To better understand the extent of these two different advections, the map below shows the temperature anomaly at around 1500 meters (850 hpa). Up to +10°C above average in the Mediterranean (particularly Portugal and Spain), up to 12-15°C below average in the rest of the continent. Temperature anomaly at 850hpa (around 1500 meters)And in Italy?
Even in Italy, temperatures will actually rise significantly during the day, especially in the center-south region with values reaching 18-21°C (if not even higher in the interior areas of Sicily). There will still be pockets of colder air in the north, creating a colder climate than the rest of Italy.
