Even though Céline Dion is in the middle of a neighborhood dispute, the residents can’t take it anymore – aufeminin

In this town on New Zealand’s North Island, Porirua, residents have launched a petition to put an end to a rather bizarre event: a competition to listen to songs as loudly as possible, both day and night. A competition in which Celine Dion’s greatest hits are broadcast and which angers many residents.

If we can give a prize to the most eccentric event, it would certainly go to this competition, which takes place in the New Zealand town of Porirua. This competition, called Siren King, is simply about playing pieces of music as loudly as possible. The interest? It doesn’t really exist, but we can say that among the residents of this town 20km north of Wellington there are many who complain about it. And with good reason given the decibels they have to endure!

How does it work and why is Celine Dion involved? In the city, opponents group together in their cars equipped with very large speakers, loudspeakers and sirens to fight in tests that involve turning the music to the highest volume. But be careful, certain rules must be followed, as one of the founders of a group on site at The Spinoff, Paul Lesoa, explains, especially the quality of the sound. Songs with big, rich bass are therefore not appreciated in competition. A rule that makes songs with a predominant high pitch more present in the competition, especially the songs by singer Céline Dion.

A petition from the people of Porirua

The residents of the small town of Peirua may appreciate Céline Dion’s hits, including “My Heart Wil Go On,” which are frequently aired during the games, but they can’t take it anymore! And for good reason that the competition takes place day and night, as stated by one of the signatories of a petition on the website change.org calling on local authorities to ban these events at night: “Even if I have Celine Dion in my Appreciate comfort In the living room and at my volume, I don’t like it when fragments of their songs stop and start again between 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.

According to New Zealand media RNZ, Porirua mayor Anita Baker would be in favor of stopping her mermaid competitions in the city and moving them to the countryside. She explains to The Guardians magazine: “There are vibrations all over the city wherever they occur because we are in a pool. It’s really frustrating.” So far, the participants have been in remote industrial areas where the maximum time was 10 p.m., which did not cause tension in the small town. Just this year, something has changed significantly at this event within the city itself.
