Real rolling fire, the Quebec adaptation of Survivor finally arrives on Noovo, and the latter has absolutely nothing to envy to the 49 other adaptations made worldwide.

Starting Sunday, the audience is entitled to the first elimination of the season. The next will take place later this week. Evictions and “challenges” could also occur at any time of the week, reminded the presenter and big fan of the series, Patrice Bélanger, on Tuesday at the presentation to the media.

Separated into two teams, the Purple (Kalooban tribe) and the Yellow (Tiyaga tribe), the 20 participants, who come from vastly different backgrounds – and with whom we quickly bond – face physical tests. , Mental and Social to gain benefits (immunity, food, survival gear) to avoid elimination. Throughout the 44 days of play, you must use strategy and arm yourself with stamina to survive and brave the elements of the Philippines, where the game takes place.

“It’s a drug, it’s addictive, it’s good, it’s strong, it’s great and it’s unique,” the host enthused after watching the first two episodes. Patrice Bélanger also intends to moderate the show for a few more years. If the production preferred to keep a little embarrassment about the future of this new reality show set in the Quebec countryside on Tuesday, it didn’t rule out the possibility of renewing the show when the time comes.

Recreate the classics

For the first season of Survivor Quebec, the Quebec team chose to enact some of Survivor’s most striking events and the classics that have shaped the imagination. She also wanted to give viewers and players “something that appeals to them,” the production explained.

To achieve this, the creative team worked closely with Banijay, the creators of the format, to whom we have to thank for “Big Brother”, in particular to ensure that the framework of the program was respected.

Everything was created on site by Quebec troops. All the accessories, decorative elements, from the immunity totem to the torches, including the “Challenges” objects, were designed and assembled in the paradise islands of the Philippines.

A total of 83 people worked on the show.

The players

Between the ages of 21 and 52, the 10 men and 10 women taking part in the competition received a range of training to survive in the jungle, including courses in leaf weaving and plant recognition, edible but also social, before the events began , with training on consent, bullying and racism.

Dedicated, committed and energetic, the participants “gave so much that sometimes they scared us,” said Patrice Bélanger on Tuesday, specifying that medical interventions were required at least three times after hardships, including one that would have caused cases of hypothermia.

Of course, a whole team of supervisors accompanied the players during their stay, as well as a psychologist present on the island, who was almost always available for consultations.

Many athletes form the teams on both sides. Notable among the Yellows are a soccer pro, a cheerleader who runs her own club and also has a taekwondo and diving past, two hockey players, and a former parkour pro.

Among the mallows there is a personal trainer, a former soccer player, an instructor and former karate master, a physical education teacher and a soccer player.

One of the longest-running reality shows, Survivor has been a television phenomenon for 25 years. With the Quebec adaptation, produced by Productions J in association with Bell Media, Canada becomes the 50th country to have this format. The 44th season recently started in the USA.

Survivor Quebec begins its season this Sunday with a 90-minute special, immediately following the grand finale of Big Brother Celebrities. The daily newspaper is then presented on Noovo Monday to Thursday at 19:00, while Sunday evening is at 20:00.

The five spring novelties from Noovo

Noovo will have a thriving TV season this spring. The general interest broadcaster will broadcast three daily news starting this Sunday, namely “Survivor Québec” and from Monday “How much do you love me” and “Le Fabulous Printemps de Marie-Lyne”. It will also count on the new biweekly program “I come to you” by Marc Labrèche, presented on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from April 11th.
