Rabih Alkhalil, 35, is actively wanted by Canadian authorities after leaving North Fraser Detention Center in British Columbia.
The man, nicknamed Robby, first cut a hole in the fence with a plasma torch, the Vancouver Sun reports.
Wearing a high-visibility vest, he then left the center at around 6:48 p.m. in a white Econoline van. He was accompanied by two other people posing as contractors, Coquitlam’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police reports in a press release.
In 2020, the Middle Eastern man was sentenced in the Longueuil courthouse to eight years in prison, specifically for conspiracy to traffic in cocaine.
Alkhalil has short black hair and brown eyes. He is 178 cm tall and weighs 75 kg. He is considered dangerous and police warn against approaching him but to call 911 immediately if you see him.
