F. Murray Abraham Leaves Mythic Quest; Will not be returning for Season 3

The Mythic Quest team will be missing a key member as F. Murray Abraham leaves the series before she returns for Season 3.

“F. Murray Abraham will not be returning for Mythic Quest Season 3,” producer Lionsgate told Deadline. “Other than that, we are not commenting on personnel issues.”

Abraham appeared as CW Longbottom, a veteran writer who works at the game studio at the heart of the series. He joined the cast in February 2019.

The Oscar winner has landed a role in the second part of HBO’s The White Lotus and will be starring in the upcoming Netflix anthology series Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.

News of the actor’s departure comes months after Apple TV+ announced the series would be returning for a third and fourth season.

Created by Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Megan Ganz, Mythic Quest revolves around Ian Grimm (McElhenney), the owner and creative director of a successful video game studio struggling to keep his successful game running alongside the dysfunctional family that makes up his Rod. In Season 2 of the comedy, which concluded in June, Ian and Poppy (Charlotte Nicado) pushed the boundaries of their working relationship and friendship as the two creative minds and game developers behind the hugely popular MMORPG Raven’s Banquet search for the next best thing. The finale, titled “TBD,” ended with both Ian and Poppy, along with some of their colleagues, leaving the studio to pursue new ventures.

The series is produced by McElhenney and Day through their company RCG; Hornsby and Ganz; Michael Rotenberg and Nicholas Frankel of 3 Arts Entertainment; and Ubisoft Film and Television’s Jason Altman, Danielle Kreinik, and Gérard Guillemot. The show is produced by Lionsgate, 3 Arts and Ubisoft for Apple TV+.
